We automatically install and enable the LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress Plugin (LSCWP) on your websites within 24 hours of installing WordPress. LiteSpeed Cache dramatically improves page load times and helps reduce your website's resource consumption.
Note:
- Automatic optimization is enabled only for Shared, Reseller, and Semi Dedicated Hosting.
- LiteSpeed Cache will not be installed automatically if another cache plugin is active.
- No configuration will change if you have installed LSCWP manually.
- If you want to disable the automatic installation of LSCWP, create a file named
.litespeed_flag
in your WordPress root directory.
How to disable automatic WordPress optimization? - Consider enabling ESI for WooCommerce websites. We do not enable it automatically.
Before Install: Disable Conflicting Plugins
If you have any caching and/or optimization plugins, disable and then uninstall them. If you are using Cloudflare, disable Cloudflare APO.
The following plugins are known to create conflicts with LiteSpeed Cache as their features overlap. Uninstall them:https://docs.litespeedtech.com/lscache/lscwp/thirdparty/#incompatible
Essentially, you shouldn't use more than one optimization plugin simultaneously.
Step 1: One-Click Install LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress (LSCWP)
You can install LSCWP from your hosting control panel or WordPress Admin Dashboard:
From cPanel
- Go to cPanel > LiteSpeed Web Cache Manager > WordPress Cache.
- Click "Scan". Wait for your domain to appear in the list.
- Click "Enable" next to your domain name.
- Done!
From WordPress Admin Dashboard
- Log in to WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to Plugins > Add New.
- Enter "LiteSpeed Cache" in the search field.
- Click "Install" on the LiteSpeed Cache plugin.
- Click "Activate" on the LiteSpeed Cache plugin.
- Done!
Step 2: Configure Settings for WooCommerce
If your website is WooCommerce, you might want to configure additional settings:
Enable ESI (Edge Side Includes)
- Log in to WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to LiteSpeed Cache > Cache > ESI.
- Set "Enable ESI" to "ON".
- Save Changes.
Product Update Interval
- Log in to WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to LiteSpeed Cache > Cache > WooCommerce.
- Select an option that suits your use case.
- Save Changes.
More information on what ESI is and why you might need it can be found here:https://docs.litespeedtech.com/lscache/lscwp/cache/#esi-tab
More information on Product Update Interval can be found here:https://docs.litespeedtech.com/lscache/lscwp/cache/#product-update-interval
Step 3: (Optional) Advanced Tuning
The default configuration of LiteSpeed Cache greatly improves page load times without requiring any additional changes. It is also the most stable configuration for production websites.
The following options are advanced options for experienced users and webmasters. Each of these options can further enhance page load times and page speed scores under different scenarios.
WARNING!
These options can have a negative impact on your website. Do not enable them without fully understanding the pros and cons. Make sure to read the caveats and warnings by visiting the associated links before enabling them:

https://docs.litespeedtech.com/lscache/lscwp/general/#guest-optimization
Serve Stale
Enabling "Serve Stale" can improve TTFB for the very first page view by delivering the stale copy of a cached page to visitors until the cache is (re)generated.
- Log in to WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to LiteSpeed Cache > Cache > Purge.
- Set "Serve Stale" to "ON".
- Save Changes.
- View your website using incognito mode in the browser to check if it caused any issues.
Guest Mode
Guest Mode provides a cached page for a visitor's first request, improving the page load time of the very first visit.
- Log in to WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to LiteSpeed Cache > General > General Settings.
- Set "Guest Mode" to "ON".
- Save Changes.
- View your website using incognito mode in the browser to check if it caused any issues.
Guest Optimization
Guest Optimization serves a cached page with maximum level of page and image optimization, greatly improving page speed scores, on services like GTmetrix and PageSpeed Insights. It can increase disk usage and quic.cloud optimization usage.
It might also degrade user experience for human visitors. Check your site using incognito mode in your browser to view it as a first-time visitor after enabling this option.
- Log in to WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to LiteSpeed Cache > General > General Settings.
- Set "Guest Optimization" to "ON".
- Save Changes.
- View your website using incognito mode in the browser to check if it caused any issues.
Verify LiteSpeed Cache Is Working
Check whether there are any errors with your website configuration or LiteSpeed Cache is caching your website:
- Go to
https://check.lscache.io/
- Enter your website URL and click CHECK.
Check at least three times. - If your website is being served from the cache, you should see a green message:
LSCache is supported
LiteSpeed cache is a hit
And the following will be shown under the "HTTP Header" section:x-litespeed-cache: hit
"Hit" indicates LiteSpeed cache is functioning correctly.
If the value is "miss", access your website URL via browser, refresh the page, and check again.
If the value is still "miss", refer to the Troubleshooting section below. - Optionally, you can check various connection properties from the website below:

- Done!
Troubleshooting
Check Plugin Conflict
Some plugins can conflict with LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress due to duplicate caching and/or optimization features. Please find the list of conflicting plugins here:https://docs.litespeedtech.com/lscache/lscwp/thirdparty/#incompatible
https://docs.litespeedtech.com/lscache/lscwp/thirdparty/#probably-compatible
You shouldn't use more than one optimization plugin at a time. Otherwise, LiteSpeed Cache will not function as intended, and your website might display errors.
Check Incorrect PHP Handler or Session Path
If LiteSpeed Cache is not functioning properly after completing all the steps above, you might have invalid PHP paths in your .htaccess or .user.ini files:
Fix incorrect PHP handler or session path
