How to enable password protected directories?

There are situations where you might want to password-protect a URL or a directory. For example, if you are developing a staging site and want to hide it from search engines or if you want to grant selective access to a URL.


Enable Password Protection


Please follow the steps to enable password protection:

  • Go to File > Directory Privacy.

  • Locate the directory you want to password protect.

  • Click Edit next to the directory.

  • Checkmark [*] Password protect this directory.

  • Click Save.

  • Click Go Back.

  • Enter the following details:

    Username
    New Password (use the password generator)
    Confirm Password

  • Click Save.

  • Done!

 


Access Password Protected URL


To access the password protected directory:

  • Close and reopen your browser.

  • Access the URL.

  • A prompt will appear asking for a username and password.

  • Enter the Username and password you created earlier.

  • Done!
