There are situations where you might want to password-protect a URL or a directory. For example, if you are developing a staging site and want to hide it from search engines or if you want to grant selective access to a URL.
Enable Password Protection
Please follow the steps to enable password protection:
- Go to File > Directory Privacy.
- Locate the directory you want to password protect.
- Click Edit next to the directory.
- Checkmark [*] Password protect this directory.
- Click Save.
- Click Go Back.
- Enter the following details:
Username
New Password (use the password generator)
Confirm Password - Click Save.
- Done!
Access Password Protected URL
To access the password protected directory:
- Close and reopen your browser.
- Access the URL.
- A prompt will appear asking for a username and password.
- Enter the Username and password you created earlier.
- Done!
