DNS propagation is a passive process initiated by third-party DNS servers. Since you do not have any direct control over these servers, there is no way to speed it up from your end. But you can set a smaller TTL to instruct these servers to refresh their cache. However, some DNS servers might not respect the frequency you set.
Set TTL to 300
Perform the following steps 72 hours before changing nameservers or DNS records. If you are migrating, make these changes on the old server:
- Log in to your DNS control panel.
On a cPanel-based server, go to cPanel > Zone Editor > Manage.
Note:
If you use third-party DNS, you need to make the changes there, not on cPanel. - Edit and set TTL to 300 for
yourdomain.com
,www.yourdomain.com
, andmail.yourdomain.com
(if exists).
*Replaceyourdomain.com
with your actual domain name. - If you have any other important DNS records, set their TTL to 300.
- Done!
Modify the A Records
Get the New Server IP Address:
- Log in to cPanel on your server with us.
- The server IP address is displayed as "Shared IP Address" under "General Information" on the right sidebar.
Modify the A Records:
If you are migrating, change the IP address of the A records on the old server after the migration is complete:
- Go to cPanel > Zone Editor > Manage.
Note:
If your old hosting uses a different control panel, locate the DNS Editor/Manager and make the changes there. - Click "Edit" next to the A records
yourdomain.com
,www.yourdomain.com
, andmail.yourdomain.com
(if exists).
*Replaceyourdomain.com
with your actual domain name. - Change the IP to the New Server IP.
- Set TTL to 300.
- Save the records.
- Done!
